Carpe Diem

We never know when our last day on Earth will come. I do not say this to make you scared. I say this so that we understand the importance of seizing the day.

A close family member was just diagnosed with terminal cancer. If he is lucky, he will have a year left. He has decided not to go through radiation or chemotherapy. Instead, he is going to live everyday that he has left to the fullest. I deeply admire that decision.

Any day we rise could be our last, even if we do not have a terminal illness. Accidents happen. This should not scare us, but it should inspire us to live as passionately in the moment as we possibly can.

Life is beautiful and precious. A lot of people worry their lives away. Or if we are not worriers, perhaps we live in regret instead of living in the moment. Others live life in a constant state of fear and anxiety. There is so much beauty and joy to be experienced. Why waste your time worrying, fearing, or regretting over all that life has to offer?

I would like to encourage you to ask yourself if you are living your life as fully as you can? If not, why not? What is holding you back from feeling good about your life? Acknowledgement is the first step to overcoming the aversions that are holding you back from living life to the fullest.

The next step is to make a conscious decision to change your behavior. This may sound easy, but it is very important. All of us posses the power to change our lives for the better. Decide now to correct any behaviors that are dulling your enjoyment of life. Tomorrow, make the same decision. The next day, again, make the same decision.

Living mindfully and consciously will allow you to accomplish anything you want in your life. The key is not existing in a constant state of habit. The key is to be aware of all of your decisions, your actions and your emotions. With awareness, you have the power to live the life you want to have.

Carpe Diem,

~Amber

Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Enjoy today to the fullest.
