I am so polite that when I sneeze, and I am by myself, I still say excuse me out of habit. I have actually been accused of being polite to a fault. Why? Well the first answer is because I am Southern, and we are known for being really nice people. The second answer is because there is no other way for me to live.
The Golden Rule, as endorsed by all major religions, is to treat others the way you want to be treated. I am going to share with you an even deeper secret: being nice to people will get you what you want in life.
Optimism, happiness and courtesy are contagious. The nicer you are to people, the nicer they will treat you in return. When you have a sunny disposition, people will ask you what your secret is. And when you are happy, everyone wants to be around you.
If this does not sound like your life, maybe it is time to call the Polite Police on yourself. Are there ways you can be nicer to others?
People in your life will respond to you positively when you treat them well. Flatter them. Appreciate them. Tell them they are worthy of love and respect, and they will treat you better than you can imagine.
So if you want to live a happier life, be nicer. If you want others to treat you better, be nicer. If you want people to help you get what you want out of life, be nicer. Everyone should be nice!
